Tips for Safe & Secure Net Banking and Protect Your Password

  • Stay Safe on Public Wi-Fi –

Be careful while using public Wi-Fi for online transactions, as these networks are mostly not encrypted, it is the easiest means for the hackers to hack anyone’s password. Avoid using online banking through the public network, instead, it’s safer to use your cellular data.

  • Use Genuine Anti-Virus Software

To get spyware detected and removed before it can actually steal your sensitive data and information, installing genuine anti-virus software is a must.

  • Change Your Password Regularly –

Never use the pin or password you get from your bank initially, change it after the first use and keep changing it after every 1 or 2 months. Also, try to keep passwords which are not easy to guess for others and use special characters to make them complex. Keeping the same passwords for log-in and transactions is also not recommended. Most basic of all is not to share your passwords with anyone.

  • Safe Internet Browsing

Never use any unsecured site for online banking. You can make sure by checking https:/ in the address. These are encrypted sites which convert your data into an unreadable language before sending it & thus keeps your private information safe.

  • Beware of Email Scams

Always stay alert while responding to an e-mail asking for your personal information. Your bank will never email you to share your account number, passwords and pins. Also, don’t fall for these phishing scams offering you jackpots and lottery wins, as they just want to steal your personal details.
