Buying A Laptop

Laptop design has changed considerably over the years. There are so many new variables that come into play now, especially with regards to form factor, displays and functionality. Investing into a full-fledged computer is a big decision since there are too many different types of laptops, and different price categories available in the market. Here’s a checklist that you can consider before splurging on a new device.

  • Build Quality: No matter how careful we are, laptops can get bashed and dropped. Some are built to withstand rain and dust, while some are especially built to last long for the educational environments. You must check out how much testing a laptop has undergone or whether there’s any certification attached to it.
  • Battery Life: After durability, battery is the most important feature in a laptop. Look at the rating of the battery in Watt-hours (Wh) or milliamp-hours (mAh). The larger these figures are, the longer the battery can last. For a 13.3 inch Ultrabook, for example, a battery with a rating from 44Wh to 50Wh will give you the best results.
  • Storage: Choose the storage which is good enough to store your documents, movies, music and photographs. If you like to store HD movies, uncompressed audio and RAW images, then consider getting at least 1TB internal storage.
  • Size: If portability is your main concern, then you need to consider a notebook that has a small screen and light in weight. Any laptop marketed as an Ultrabook should fit your bill here, as they are designed to be slim and light.
  • CPU: It’s hard to go past any of Intel’s Core-based CPUs when buying a new laptop. These CPUs offer the best performance when it comes to multitasking and multimedia tasks.
  • RAM: You need 1 GB of RAM or more to get the best out of your system. More RAM allows for more applications to be run at the same time, and for more data to be quickly accessible by the system at any given time.
  • Keyboard Quality: A keyboard that has a comfortable layout with full-sized keys and some space around the arrow keys is the best for your long typing sessions.
  • Screen Quality: To stare at your laptop for many hours every day, make sure to get a screen that is comfortable to look at.
  • USB 3.0: You shouldn’t get a laptop without a USB 3.0 port, and you should look for a laptop that has at least a couple of these ports. This is important to plug in an external hard drive to back up your laptop’s data, or to plug in a mouse or a fancy keyboard.

Keeping into consideration the needs and desires of a customer, Lava mobiles being the leading smartphones and tablets manufacturer, has come up its Helium range of laptops. This range is a complete blend of technology, style, and convenience in just Rs. 12999 and Rs.14999. Give it a try for sure!
